Il avait donc le profil id\u00e9al pour ce vrai-faux du conseil. Cela peut sembler \u00e9trange. L&rsquo;imposteur c&rsquo;est le consultant qui n&rsquo;a ni les qualifications, ni les comp\u00e9tences, ni le savoir-faire pour exercer ce m\u00e9tier. Comme dans tous les domaines, on trouve des imposteurs. Mais tous les consultants ne sont pas des imposteurs. En v\u00e9rit\u00e9, on rencontre beaucoup plus le syndrome de l&rsquo;imposteur. Il s&rsquo;agit de disposer d&rsquo;une combinaison de comp\u00e9tences essentielles et de proposer de la valeur \u00e0 son client.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Plut\u00f4t que de parler de consultant \u00ab\u00a0vOleur \u00bb , je pr\u00e9f\u00e9rerais changer le \u00ab O \u00bb en \u00ab A \u00bb, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire parler de \u00ab\u00a0consultant vAleur \u00bb. Un consultant qui ne fait pas son travail ne d\u00e9livre pas de valeur. C\u2019est un point essentiel. Ensuite, la question se pose : un client est-il pr\u00eat \u00e0 ne pas payer ? En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, la relation entre un consultant et un client repose sur un contrat, qui d\u00e9finit un service rendu pour un prix donn\u00e9, dans un d\u00e9lai pr\u00e9cis. Lorsque cela ne fonctionne pas, ce qui peut arriver, le client peut \u00eatre m\u00e9content et menacer de diverses actions. Mais tout d\u00e9pend des circonstaces. Par exemple, si une personne a toujours travaill\u00e9 dans le secteur public et qu\u2019on lui propose une mission dans la banque, il est \u00e9vident qu\u2019elle n\u2019en conna\u00eet pas les sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9s. Cette m\u00e9connaissance sectorielle est souvent point\u00e9e du doigt. Un autre reproche courant est que les consultants produisent des documents inutiles, des diagnostics et pr\u00e9conisations inapplicables, qui rel\u00e8vent parfois du \u00ab bullshit \u00bb. Ces critiques existent, mais elles concernent des cas particuliers.<\/p>\n<h3>Un bon consultant est-il un expert\u00a0? Pas toujours vrai<\/h3>\n<p>Un bon consultant, selon moi, est quelqu&rsquo;un qui sait \u00e9couter, qui sait remettre en question et \u00e9largir la vision de son client. Il doit \u00eatre capable de proposer des solutions concr\u00e8tes et accompagnables dans leur mise en \u0153uvre. Ce n&rsquo;est pas forc\u00e9ment un expert technique, mais il doit ma\u00eetriser certaines m\u00e9thodes et outils tout en \u00e9tant en phase intellectuelle avec son client. Il doit aussi l\u2019inciter \u00e0 se remettre en question.<\/p>\n<h3>Consultant, c\u2019est un seul m\u00e9tier\u00a0: FAUX<\/h3>\n<p>Dans un cabinet de conseil, un consultant a plusieurs r\u00f4les. Le premier est commercial : il doit prospecter et faire des propositions. Ensuite, il doit encadrer des \u00e9quipes et les aider \u00e0 progresser. Enfin, il doit continuer \u00e0 intervenir directement chez les clients pour ne pas perdre le contact avec la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 du terrain.<\/p>\n<h3>Le consultant doit avoir la culture du livrable\u00a0: VRAI<\/h3>\n<p>Le travail du consultant repose sur la compr\u00e9hension des probl\u00e9matiques de son client. A partir de ce diagnostic, il \u00e9labore des solutions adapt\u00e9es et la mise en \u0153uvre de ces solutions. Les missions de conseil sont souvent cadr\u00e9es par des livrables, qui sont les documents structurant le travail accompli. Ces livrables sont d\u00e9finis d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but, enrichis progressivement, valid\u00e9s et ajust\u00e9s au fil du projet. Ils ont une valeur non seulement pour la mission et la r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration, mais aussi pour le cabinet, car ils contribuent \u00e0 capitaliser le savoir-faire des consultants.<\/p>\n<h3>Tout le monde peut devenir consultant\u00a0: VRAI \u00e0 condition d\u2019en poss\u00e9der les qualit\u00e9s<\/h3>\n<p>Un consultant se doit de disposer de certaines qualit\u00e9s essentielles. Tout d&rsquo;abord un fort esprit d\u2019analyse pour d\u00e9tecter les enjeux de son client, et l&rsquo;esprit de synth\u00e8se pour tirer l\u2019essentiel des informations recueillies. Par ailleurs, sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 nouer des relations sociales est sans doute la qualit\u00e9 requise la plus importante. Il doit faire montre d&rsquo;une forte capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9coute, comprendre les attentes de son client et pousser ce dernier \u00e0 exprimer des aspects qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;aurait pas spontan\u00e9ment abord\u00e9s. Il doit \u00eatre \u00e0 la fois humble et s\u00fbr de lui afin de guider son client et d&rsquo;asseoir sa cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h3>Le conseil ce n\u2019est pas fait pour les jeunes\u00a0: FAUX<\/h3>\n<p>Les jeunes consultants sont nombreux dans les cabinets de conseil. Pour eux, c\u2019est une opportunit\u00e9 de formation continue en CDI, avec un bon salaire. Ils apprennent aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de managers exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s qui leur transmettent leur savoir-faire, car le m\u00e9tier de consultant ne s\u2019apprend pas uniquement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole. Ce qui fait un bon consultant, c\u2019est sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 utiliser ses connaissances pour analyser les probl\u00e8mes des clients, proposer des solutions et mettre en \u0153uvre des recommandations adapt\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00catre d\u00e9butant est un obstacle pour \u00eatre consultant\u00a0: VRAI et FAUX \u00e0 la fois<\/h3>\n<p>Le m\u00e9tier de consultant agit comme un stimulant : il permet d\u2019\u00e9voluer dans des environnements vari\u00e9s, de traiter des probl\u00e9matiques diff\u00e9rentes et d\u2019\u00eatre en contact avec des interlocuteurs de haut niveau. Les jeunes acqui\u00e8renet l\u2019exp\u00e9rience au fur et \u00e0 mesure de leur pratique. En revanche, pour une personne plus exp\u00e9riment\u00e9e qui souhaite se reconvertir dans le conseil, son exp\u00e9rience sectorielle devient un atout majeur \u00e0 valoriser aupr\u00e8s des cabinets.<\/p>\n<h3>Le Conseil, m\u00e9tier d\u2019avenir\u00a0? VRAI<\/h3>\n<p>Le conseil est n\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin du XIXe si\u00e8cle avec Arthur D. Little en 1886, puis il s\u2019est structur\u00e9 avec McKinsey en 1926. C&rsquo;est un m\u00e9tier jeune. Son avenir est prometteur, car il repose sur des besoins fondamentaux des entreprises : offrir un regard ext\u00e9rieur, \u00e9largir leur vision et leur apporter des comp\u00e9tences ponctuelles et sp\u00e9cifiques. Les entreprises font appel \u00e0 des consultants pour des expertises dont elles n\u2019ont pas besoin en continu.
