On dirait que l\u2019IA a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 comme Alphonse Allais de mettre les villes \u00e0 la campagne. \u00c0 moins que ce soit l\u2019inverse, ou les deux \u00e0 la fois.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>La question c&rsquo;est pour quoi faire ?<\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft a annonc\u00e9 il y a peu de temps avoir eu une augmentation de 30\u00a0% de ses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/61bd45d9-2c0f-479a-8b24-605d5e72f1ab\">\u00e9missions de carbone sur la p\u00e9riode 2020-2023<\/a>, et a reconnu qu&rsquo;une bonne partie de cette augmentation \u00e9tait li\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;explosion de l&rsquo;IA. Moins du fait de l\u2019usage des donn\u00e9es que de la <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/61bd45d9-2c0f-479a-8b24-605d5e72f1ab\">construction m\u00eame de ces data centers<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mais la vraie question, c&rsquo;est pour quoi faire <\/strong>? Selon les r\u00e9sultats, cet entra\u00eenement peut produire environ 626 000\u00a0livres [313 000\u00a0kg environ] de dioxyde de carbone, soit l&rsquo;\u00e9quivalent d&rsquo;environ 300 vols aller-retour entre New York et San Francisco &#8211; pr\u00e8s de 5 fois les \u00e9missions d&rsquo;une voiture moyenne pendant toute sa dur\u00e9e de vie\u00a0\u00bb. L\u2019article ne pr\u00e9cise pas la fr\u00e9quence cependant, on n\u2019entra\u00eene pas un mod\u00e8le d\u2019IA tous les jours et on l\u2019entra\u00eene pour des millions d\u2019utilisateurs. Mais quoiqu\u2019il en soit, l\u2019impact n\u2019est pas neutre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>De l\u2019impact environnemental du digital et de l&rsquo;IA en particulier<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le digital au sens large, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire toute l&rsquo;infrastructure et l&rsquo;usage li\u00e9s \u00e0 la technologie digitale, repr\u00e9sentent de 3 \u00e0 4\u00a0% de l&rsquo;ensemble des \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre. L&rsquo;industrie a\u00e9rienne p\u00e8se environ 3,5\u00a0%*, donc le digital est significatif.<\/p>\n<p><em>NDLR* Le chatbot d&rsquo;Ekimetrics que nous pr\u00e9sentons ci-apr\u00e8s indique que le transport a\u00e9rien est uniquement responsable de 2,4\u00a0% des \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre. C&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire qu&rsquo;au lieu d&rsquo;avoir un mod\u00e8le avec des milliards de milliards de param\u00e8tres pour une requ\u00eate toute simple, ce qui consomme \u00e9norm\u00e9ment et n\u2019a pas forc\u00e9ment un int\u00e9r\u00eat syst\u00e9matique, on ira vers des mod\u00e8les plus sp\u00e9cifiques \u00e0 une fonction, un m\u00e9tier, un usage. Cela permettra d&rsquo;optimiser r\u00e9ellement la consommation d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie.<\/p>\n<h3>Quelques cas d\u2019usage positifs de l\u2019IA pour l\u2019environnement<\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">L\u2019IA, dans son acception la plus large, est au service de l&rsquo;environnement depuis longtemps.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Il est des syst\u00e8mes d&rsquo;advance analytics qui permettent de mani\u00e8re assez simple de mieux pr\u00e9dire la demande et d&rsquo;optimiser les flux. Pour optimiser la consommation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique d&rsquo;un b\u00e2timent, ou les pr\u00e9visions de la demande pour \u00e9viter le gaspillage alimentaire.<\/li>\n<li>Il y a aussi le machine learning pour les optimisations de la supply chain, l\u2019ordonnancement dans le transport et l\u2019optimisation du remplissage des camions.<\/li>\n<li>Puis il y a le deep learning, pour am\u00e9liorer la pr\u00e9diction du risque climatique, le respect de la biodiversit\u00e9, avec la mesure, avec des capteurs, du bruit de certains animaux.<\/li>\n<li>Et enfin, il y a l\u2019IA g\u00e9n\u00e9rative avec les fameux Large Language Models, mais surtout avec la capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;aller mieux traiter l&rsquo;information. Il y a des cas d&rsquo;usage de chatbots avec la Gen AI.
