Et pour cause ! Il s&rsquo;agit l\u00e0 de profils assez atypiques, mi-scientifiques, mi-business et surtout informaticiens. Alors imaginez ma satisfaction lorsque j&rsquo;ai rencontr\u00e9 Thomas Gerbaud. Je n&rsquo;ai donc pas demand\u00e9 mon reste, je l&rsquo;ai plant\u00e9 imm\u00e9diatement devant la cam\u00e9ra afin de tout savoir de ce nouveau m\u00e9tier, de son profil, de sa vision du m\u00e9tier et des <a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/fr\/2015\/04\/les-big-data-remettent-la-personnalisation-a-lordre-du-jour-du-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Big Data<\/a>. Thomas est associ\u00e9 avec son fr\u00e8re au sein d&rsquo;une startup (<span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/mantiq.fr\/\">Mantiq<\/span>)\u00a0cr\u00e9\u00e9e d\u00e9but mars 2015, qui propose des solutions digitales pour faire parler les donn\u00e9es des entreprises. La jeune pousse du Sud de la France\u00a0s\u2019appuie sur une exp\u00e9rience de 10 ann\u00e9es en recherches, et ses\u00a03 associ\u00e9s proviennent du monde de la recherche (maths, physique, m\u00e9decine). Mantiq s&rsquo;occupe du design et du d\u00e9veloppement d&rsquo;outils, logiciels permettant de faire parler les donn\u00e9es de l\u2019entreprise, de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s g\u00e9n\u00e9rale.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Le\u00a0data scientist racont\u00e9 par un vrai data scientist<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Il y a diff\u00e9rentes d\u00e9finitions d&rsquo;un data scientist. Je pense \u00eatre dans <strong>l\u2019acceptation la plus pure du data scientist :<\/strong> j\u2019ai fait 10 ans de recherche en physique sur l\u2019exploitation de donn\u00e9es de grands instruments de recherche. Mon associ\u00e9 <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/antoine-gerbaud\/54\/740\/658\">Antoine GERBAUD<\/span> a fait une th\u00e8se de maths et fait de l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Algorithmique\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">algorithmique<\/a> depuis 6 ans. Qu\u2019est qu\u2019un data scientist en v\u00e9rit\u00e9\u00a0? Car nous entendons diff\u00e9rentes versions.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Selon moi, un data scientist est quelqu\u2019un qui va r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer des donn\u00e9es, quelque soit le format ou la taille, et va appliquer des outils efficaces pour afin d&rsquo;en conclure\u00a0quelque chose, il doit les faire parler. En r\u00e9sum\u00e9, il va, \u00e0 partir des donn\u00e9es, concevoir un <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Algorithme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">algorithme<\/a>, une m\u00e9thode afin de les traiter et obtenir un r\u00e9sultat.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ces outils, c\u2019est de l\u2019algorithmique, de la statistique\u00a0?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Nous pouvons dire que ce sont des statistiques g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9es, nous allons r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 faire parler les donn\u00e9es, nous allons\u00a0appliquer des mod\u00e8les statistiques, des mod\u00e8les de math\u00e9matiques et nous allons\u00a0en d\u00e9duire des indicateurs, des moyennes, des tendances, des variantes. Nous allons\u00a0concevoir un outil pour chaque besoin qui passera par des maths, de la data visu, de l\u2019algorithme.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Quand nous concevons\u00a0un projet, est-il obligatoire de concevoir soi-m\u00eame le moteur du projet et le fameux algorithme\u00a0? Comment \u00e7a se passe\u00a0?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Il faut commence par aller voir le client et comprendre ce qu\u2019il veut faire et ce qu\u2019il a comme donn\u00e9es. Ensuite, nous allons r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 tracer un chemin entre ses donn\u00e9es brutes et ce qu\u2019il veut. Puis nous allons lui proposer une solution, une m\u00e9thode.\u00a0De mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, nous pouvons\u00a0ramener ces probl\u00e8mes \u00e0 quelques cas standard tel que la segmentation, le\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.fr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CCQQFjAAahUKEwjzpJXF5efGAhXLthQKHX1MBqA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.math-info.univ-paris5.fr%2F~lomn%2FCours%2FDM%2FMaterial%2FComplementsCours%2Fclustering.PPT&amp;ei=QOirVfOEK8vtUv2YmYAK&amp;usg=AFQjCNEv4OpZZvjYhoqalPHnzSoJkloTJw&amp;sig2=9m1jLohleCIXS9ryxqU6oQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">clustering<\/a> (regrouper des \u00e9l\u00e9ments ensemble), le\u00a0profilage (trouver des comportements typiques d\u2019utilisateurs). Tous ses algorithmes sont tr\u00e8s g\u00e9n\u00e9riques\u00a0: il y a 4-5 grands algorithmes que nous pourrons appliquer \u00e0 diff\u00e9rents cas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/smhK6T2zu9g\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>M\u00eame si le chemin entre la donn\u00e9e brute et le r\u00e9sultat est sp\u00e9cifique \u00e0 chaque cas, les instruments sont toujours les m\u00eames.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Nous pouvons nous\u00a0ramener \u00e0 des cas connus et trait\u00e9s par la litt\u00e9rature, \u00e0 des algorithmes qui existent d\u00e9j\u00e0 afin d\u2019\u00e9viter de repartir \u00e0 z\u00e9ro.Il est d\u2019ailleurs fortement conseill\u00e9 de ne pas repartir \u00e0 z\u00e9ro et d\u2019opter pour l\u2019algorithme (test\u00e9 et approuv\u00e9) le plus adapt\u00e9 aux donn\u00e9es. C\u2019est \u00e0 dire que si nous n\u2019avons pas beaucoup de donn\u00e9es, il faut prendre l\u2019algorithme qui sera le plus efficace et qui fera une analyse compl\u00e8te. Si nous avons \u00e9norm\u00e9ment de donn\u00e9es, nous ne pourrons pas donc nous repartirons sur un algorithme avec un type de m\u00e9thodes ad\u00e9quat, plus intelligent et plus rapide qui aura l\u2019id\u00e9e de la solution.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Qu\u2019y a t-il comme innovation dans le domaine du machine learning\u00a0?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019intelligence artificielle, c\u2019est un peu le monstre du Lochness que nous avons en informatique.<\/p>\n<p>Nous sommes plus sur du machine learning, sur du syst\u00e8me expert. C\u2019est \u00e0 dire r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 faire de l\u2019algorithme intelligent, qui suivra un chemin que nous lui avons d\u00e9j\u00e0 trac\u00e9 avec une logique que nous leur avons impl\u00e9ment\u00e9e sauf qu\u2019ils seront auto-apprenants. En partant de donn\u00e9es, ils d\u00e9duiront des comportements et ils pourront l\u2019appliquer \u00e0 d\u2019autres types de donn\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Il y a l\u2019apprentissage non-supervis\u00e9, et l&rsquo;apprentissage supervis\u00e9. On peut prendre ces algorithmes et les appliquer \u00e0 des donn\u00e9es actuelles, ce qui est int\u00e9ressant. Nous sommes dans une sorte d\u2019intelligence artificielle.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>C\u2019est en train de progresser. Mais devons-nous nous affoler\u00a0? Les machines vont-elles\u00a0nous remplacer\u00a0demain ? Car <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stephen_Hawking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Hawking<\/a> nous disait que si les machines devenaient plus intelligents que nous, nous finirons au ch\u00f4mage.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Quand m\u00eame un peu. Car nous essayons\u00a0de faire en sorte d\u2019automatiser des process. Si nous r\u00e9ussissons\u00a0\u00e0 faire un algorithme ou un programme qui est capable d&rsquo;effectuer\u00a0les t\u00e2ches d&rsquo;une dizaine de personnes, cela risque de mettre\u00a0une personne au ch\u00f4mage. Ceci dit, je ne pense pas que cela va mettre les gens au ch\u00f4mage.\u00a0Je pense que Stephen Hawking est l\u00e9g\u00e8rement parano\u00efaque sur le sujet.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Devenir\u00a0data scientist permet-il de devenir riche ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>C\u2019est un m\u00e9tier un peu sexy (NDLR :\u00a0<span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.e-orientations.com\/actualites\/et-le-job-le-plus-sexy-du-21e-siecle-est-le-metier-de-data-scientist-13823\">Data scientist a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu m\u00e9tier le plus sexy du 21\u00e8me si\u00e8cle<\/span>). Si nous voulons\u00a0\u00eatre du c\u00f4t\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0hard-tech\u00a0\u00bb, il faut passer par la science, la gestion de donn\u00e9es. Il est impossible de devenir data scientist sans savoir\u00a0coder efficacement, et sans avoir\u00a0fait des erreurs.\u00a0Un data scient doit aimer coder, r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir, r\u00e9soudre des probl\u00e8mes et doit passer par l\u2019\u00e9tape Recherche et D\u00e9veloppement (R&amp;D).\u00a0L&rsquo;apprentissage peut se faire en \u00e9coles d\u2019ing\u00e9nieur, ou en \u00a0facult\u00e9. pas mal de maths car \u00e7a peut servir.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Un marketeur peut il devenir data scientist, si non\u00a0peuvent t-ils collaborer\u00a0?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Un marketeur ne sait pas faire de code donc il ne pourra pas \u00eatre data scientist. Il peut par contre se servir des outils et ils ont grand int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 travailler avec les responsables IT pour mettre en place des solutions.<\/p>\n<h2>Le marketeur doit-il acheter un dictionnaire particulier pour apprendre \u00e0 parler avec le data scientist\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Oui, tout \u00e0 fait\u00a0(rires). Ca vient \u00e0 la longue. Il y a toute une culture technique \u00e0 apprendre. Nous pouvons aussi inverser la question\u00a0: le data scientist doit t-il acheter un dictionnaire pour parler avec le marketeur\u00a0?<\/p>\n<p>Les deux ont int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00e0 travailler et communiquer ensemble car l\u2019un pourra concevoir les outils que l\u2019autre utilisera.<\/p>\n<h2>Comment voyez-vous l\u2019avenir de ce m\u00e9tier\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Il y aura toujours des besoins de d\u00e9veloppements sp\u00e9cifiques dans toutes les boites. Il n&rsquo;y aura\u00a0pas d\u2019outils parfaitement adapt\u00e9s \u00e0 tous types de solutions.
