Hewlett Packard a \u00e9t\u00e9 l&rsquo;une des premi\u00e8res entreprises technologiques \u00e0 s&rsquo;organiser par produits dans les ann\u00e9es 1940. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une personne qui repr\u00e9sente le client et qui indique aux d\u00e9veloppeurs les exigences relatives \u00e0 ce qui doit \u00eatre construit.<\/p>\n<p>Le product owner (PO) est en charge de la vision strat\u00e9gique d\u2019un ou de plusieurs produits, depuis son id\u00e9e jusqu\u2019\u00e0 sa mise sur le march\u00e9. Au quotidien, ses t\u00e2ches comprennent des \u00e9tudes de march\u00e9 et des analyses de la concurrence, des interactions avec les clients, des discussions sur la promotion du produit avec l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe marketing, des \u00e9changes avec les data analysts (si ce r\u00f4le existe au sein de l\u2019entreprise).<\/p>\n<p>Dans le cas d\u2019un produit digital, ces t\u00e2ches incluent \u00e9galement des \u00e9changes sur la conception du produit avec le ou les concepteurs UI\/UX, des discussions sur le d\u00e9veloppement avec l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe technique, ou d\u2019autre sujets comme par exemple la migration des donn\u00e9es, l&rsquo;annonce de la sortie d&rsquo;un sprint, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Le product owner est le garant de la sortie \u2013 ou non \u2013 de nouvelles fonctionnalit\u00e9s. Il anime r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement des comit\u00e9s produit afin de recueillir les besoins et les feedbacks des autres d\u00e9partements : marketing, commercial&#8230; S\u2019il juge qu\u2019une fonctionnalit\u00e9 est trop complexe, il peut d\u00e9cider de sortir une version \u201cd\u00e9grad\u00e9e\u201d, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire simplifi\u00e9e par rapport au besoin initialement exprim\u00e9, dans une logique de Test &amp; Learn. Il raisonne toujours en \u201cvaleur business\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Les limites des approches th\u00e9oriques en product management en B2B<\/h3>\n<p>La gestion de produits B2B exige que les product-owners m\u00e8nent des entretiens approfondis avec leurs clients, se d\u00e9placent pour visiter les sites et suivent de mani\u00e8re assidue l&rsquo;actualit\u00e9 du secteur. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un v\u00e9ritable apprentissage, parfois long et complexe. L\u2019expertise du domaine est cl\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>En B2B, les acheteurs ne sont, bien souvent, pas les utilisateurs. Le product-owner doit donc d\u00e9velopper une connaissance approfondie de ces deux cibles. Il doit ainsi d\u00e9finir des personas (<a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/fr\/glossaire\/persona-b2b\/\">lire notre d\u00e9finition des personas B2B<\/a>) pour les acheteurs et des personas pour les utilisateurs.<\/p>\n<p>La relation que le product owner entretient avec le service commercial est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rente en B2B par rapport au B2C. En B2B, le product owner doit quasiment consid\u00e9rer le service commercial comme un client \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re (un client interne). L\u2019objectif du product owner sera alors de nourrir son \u201cclient\u201d avec des informations pr\u00e9cises, qualifi\u00e9es, lui permettant d\u2019atteindre son objectif principal : d\u00e9velopper le chiffre d\u2019affaires de l\u2019entreprise.<\/p>\n<h3>Les tendances et innovations en product management en B2B<\/h3>\n<p>Les product owners acqui\u00e8rent de plus en plus d\u2019ind\u00e9pendance dans l\u2019entreprise. Dans l\u2019univers des logiciels en mode SaaS, par exemple, leur r\u00f4le devient de plus en plus incontournable. Evoluant au sein d\u2019un \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me complexe, ils doivent g\u00e9rer les partenariats strat\u00e9giques, la relation avec les d\u00e9veloppeurs, le design, le marketing, le commercial, le tout dans un environnement o\u00f9 la donn\u00e9e et l\u2019intelligence artificielle sont de plus en plus pr\u00e9sentes.<\/p>\n<h3>Outils et m\u00e9thodes en product management<\/h3>\n<p>Le product owner supervise et utilise au quotidien de nombreux outils, notamment le product backlog (backlog produit). Ce dernier liste les besoins recueillis pour cr\u00e9er puis pour am\u00e9liorer le produit.<\/p>\n<p>Le product owner met \u00e9galement en pratique les user stories. Les user stories sont une description simple et compr\u00e9hensible d&rsquo;une fonctionnalit\u00e9, exprim\u00e9e sous la forme suivante :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cEn tant que\u201d : r\u00f4le de la personne exprimant le besoin<\/li>\n<li>\u201cJe veux\u201d : le besoin en tant que tel<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAfin de\u201d : le b\u00e9n\u00e9fice attendu<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Par exemple, on peut exprimer une user story de la mani\u00e8re suivante :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>En tant qu\u2019acheteur en ligne sur le site XYZ<\/li>\n<li>Je veux recevoir un e-mail de confirmation de ma commande<\/li>\n<li>Afin d\u2019\u00eatre rassur\u00e9 (r\u00e9capitulatif de la commande, confirmation qu\u2019elle a bien \u00e9t\u00e9 enregistr\u00e9e, coordonn\u00e9es du service client&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le product owner aura \u00e9galement besoin, dans sa panoplie d\u2019outils, de logiciels de prototypage tels que Balsamiq, Mockplus, Mockflow, Pidoco ou Sketch.
