This amazing event, of which Visionary Marketing was a partner [disclosure], can be summed up<\/i><i>\u00a0in just 5 hashtags: #rise #digital #AI #personalisation #atscale. Long gone are the days (1997) when the boss of Abbey National, asked me, &#8220;Do you think that one day, Internet business could be in the major leagues?&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-light\"><p>Customisation is not new, but the real challenge today is personalisation at scale<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Large-scale digital customisation on the agenda<\/h3>\n<p>But to fuel this impressive digital wave (close to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/2333\/e-commerce-in-the-united-kingdom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a3700 m worth of revenue in 2019<\/a> in the UK alone, 50% of which being driven by EDI exchanges vs a mere <a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/fr\/2022\/03\/penurie-de-talents-marketing-digital\/\">130 billion euros in France<\/a>), personalisation is a must-have.<\/p>\n<p>Not just any kind of personalisation, mind you. It\u2019s true that &#8220;personalisation is not new&#8221;, explained Anil Chakravarthy, President, Digital Experience Business at Adobe, &#8220;but the real challenge today is to personalise at scale&#8221;, he added. It&#8217;s because there is still a lot of work left on marketers\u2019 plates.<span lang=\"EN\">\u00a0&#8220;<\/span>80% of companies think they deliver good Customer Experience, but only 8% of customers agree with that!&#8221; Narayen added, citing a study by Bain and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.entrepreneur.com\/article\/228129#ixzz2dtg5wBrf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a figure that is not even new<\/a>. The figures are real: Jens Thiemers, the boss of BMW USA, stated that a third of his customers are ready to buy their car online. The days when ecommerce was for \u00a320-paperbacks are long gone.<\/p>\n<p>For this to work, though, technology is needed and this is the promise brought forward by Customer Data Platforms, with the possibility of building marketing repositories capable of handling personalisation in real time and huge volumes.<\/p>\n<h3>Marriott&#8217;s three principles for achieving an exceptional data-driven customer experience<\/h3>\n<p>Yet, technology does not suffice. You might add, and in that you would be very wrong, as Adrian Swinscoe <a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/fr\/2021\/08\/cx-experience-client\/\">rightly taught us<\/a>\u00a0with his Punk CX opus.<\/p>\n<h3>3 lessons learned from Adobe&#8217;s announcement on the Metaverse market<\/h3>\n<p>At this point in my recap, one had to talk about the inevitable <a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/en\/2022\/03\/metaverse-for-b2b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Metaverse<\/a>.
