One may be wrong though.\u00a0<\/em><em>PepsiCo UK, the company behind famous CPG brands such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pepsico.co.uk\/brands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gatorade, 7up or Walkers<\/a>\u00a0may not be a high-tech giant as such but it has a knack for <a href=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/en\/2006\/09\/joint-innovation-our-perspective\/\">joint innovation<\/a> anyway.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Pepsico: from potato chips manufacturer to innovation incubator<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" class=\"wp-image-80341 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/potato-chips-86562-e1714451718831.jpg\" alt=\"&lt;yoastmark class=\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>The company indeed created an innovation challenge entitled <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110610000942\/http:\/\/www.pepsico10.com\/howitWorks.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PepsiCo10<\/a>, the aim of\u00a0which is to reward 10 digital entrepreneurs in the fields of social commerce and mobile technologies out of 130 applicants.<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"746\" height=\"525\" class=\"size-full wp-image-80343\" src=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/pepsico10-logo1.jpg\" alt=\"&lt;yoastmark class=\" srcset=\"https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/pepsico10-logo1.jpg 746w, https:\/\/visionarymarketing.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/pepsico10-logo1-426x300.jpg 426w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The challenge gives these 10 startups a unique opportunity to boost their businesses as well as &#8220;drive business value for PepsiCo&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The challenge is about creating social commerce or mobile applications related to PepsiCo products; each of these 10 business ventures will be granted the status of a &#8220;strategic business partner, working closely with [PespsiCo] teams, internally and externally&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Winners will also be awarded\u00a0\u00a310,000 in cash but PepsiCo will take\u00a0no equity in those businesses.<\/p>\n<h3>Pepsico Innovation in Europe<\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s such a clever idea, one wonders why a high tech giant hasn&#8217;t yet thought about it! While launching this programme in Europe (after last year&#8217;s successful creation of the US contest), PepsiCo is promoting itself as an &#8220;innovation incubator&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>There are 5 suggested categories in this challenge:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Social Media Community-based Marketing,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Mobile Marketing: On the Phone, Tablets and Beyond,<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Place-based Technology,<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Online Video and Advertising,<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Gaming \/ Learning Platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Partners of this campaign include high tech experts from OMD UK, Highland Capital Partners, Wired and Mashable.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, through this challenge, PepsiCo will be saving on the development of innovative technologies which will help them promote their own brands &#8230; a win-win challenge and a clever marketing trick!<\/p>\n<p><strong>More information about the 10 selected start-ups at <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110610000942\/http:\/\/www.pepsico10.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">www.pepsico10.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PepsiCo isn&#8217;t really a brand name you will naturally associate with the word &#8216;innovation&#8217;.
