Will Wifi clinch it for Microsoft Zune vs Apple’s iPod?

Will Wifi clinch it for Microsoft Zune vs Apple’s iPod?

Although it’s difficult to tell right now what will become of Microsoft Zune, whether it will be a failure or a success or even whether it will be available at all in the UK (see Stuff mag), one can predict that there is going to be a lot of hooha around Zune and Microsoft’s secret plans on new MP3 hardware and service aimed at competing with Apple’s successful music system and service.

ZDNet experts seem to be impressed with the promise of a Wi-Fi capability and the ability to share playlists between users. Zune may even manage to make analysts forget about the recent problems with the much-awaited Vista release and its potential cost ($400m according to the International Business Times).

Although Zune’s success is very difficult to predict – we haven’t even caught a glimpse of it yet – The Spoof seems to know better and predicts that Ms engineers have managed to craft new MP3 hardware which is far less irksome in its design and operation than Apple’s, mainly when connected to a PC.
